Memory update:  DDR2 modules have increased in demand and the price point has reflected this from a start point of $14 to $23 by the end of the 1st week of October for 1-GB PC800 material.  Within the same time frame as the 1-GB PC800 material, the 2-GB PC800 showed an equally remarkable surge from $30 to $43!

DDR3 is still limited in supply and an increase in expected in the very near future

Semiconductors and IC update:  Mfgs that had shortages and lead time delays in September continue to do so. On Semi, Maxim, National and Fairchild are on an even keel.   Microsemi is having shortages for both military and non-military diodes and STMicro have some lead time issues.

Converge also reported on the historic meeting in South Korea with representatives for all 6 major semiconductor manufacturing regions with customs authorities. (Further details on this meeting can be found here)

What this will mean for the broker or distributor is the potential to have the lead time of parts crossing international borders increased.  Also additional cargo inspections and requests for supporting documents should begin to be more and more visible.
